Sewing 101

3 classes mean that you get lots of practice at using your machine and build up some basic sewing techniques too.

I will provide fabric and thread as well as the cushion pads. However, if you have some fabric you would like to use, bring it along.

You can book a class for any Wednesday or Friday, providing there are spaces.         

Wednesday classes  
9.30am to  12.00pm or 1pm to 3.30pm

Wednesday Evening classes
7.00 to 9.30 pm

Friday Classes
9.30am to 12.00pm or 1pm to 3.30pm

What you will learn.......

Class 1/Trial class  

Get to grips with your sewing machine

Threading your machine                                

Selecting stitches

Sewing practice  - getting your seams straight

​Turning corners

Make a simple fold over cushion cover (16" x 16")

Class 2  

Make a lovely tote bag

 You will learn how to measure and cut a pattern

How to make and attach handles
By now you will be feeling confident enough to start adding your own touch to my basic design

Class 3  

Build on your skills. Make an apron with a patch pocket
​Learn how to fold and sew a hem

Tackle sewing a slight curve
​Experiment with design
​Learn how to attach a patch pocket


If you bring your own fabric, you will need 1/2 metre of fabric for the cushion or totebag and 1 metre of fabric for the apron.

£90 for 3 sessions (7.5 hours in total) Including all materials.

£32 for one trail session(2.5 hours).
